Excuse me Mr. Concierge- how many people can ride the elevator at once?

Ahhhhh- being a real estate agent in NYC is never dull!

Please come in!

Please come in!

Last night I took my newly engaged customers to a fabulous Pre-war newly renovated condo on the Upper West Side. I have been working with this lovely couple for some time and was excited to show this particular building to them.

We were waiting outside for the other agent to welcome us when a group 5 people flew right past us. They were definitely important, or at least they thought they were, and it was clear that they were news casters. Make up so thick you could use the excess to decorate a wedding cake!

I received a text from the other agent to meet her on the 12th floor and then she would bring us down to the 8th floor.

Now the fun begins- having been stuck on a pre-war elevator twice this Summer, I know that when it is hot in NYC and elevators get too packed, they usually get stuck.

So the 3 of us zip up to the 12th floor along with a man delivering chinese food. As the door open, the brokers smiles at me and the other 5 people get on the elevator.

In my head, I am saying, please god, don't let all of these people get on or we are F****D!

We are Scr***D!!!!!!

We are Scr***D!!!!!!

We are now Ten people and the agent presses #8 and the doors closes and the elevator moves about 3 feet and stops......

The next 20 minutes is hot hot hot. Now I have to maintain my composure (but internally want to flip). The news casters are joking and making sure none of us call the fire department. I guess they didn't want to be photos, but I think they really did.

As time went by, I stayed relaxed and kept checking with my buyers.
Ms. Buyer was cool as a cucumber and Mr. Buyer was starting to lose it; sweat beads dripping down his neck, contorted facial expressions and fist clenching.

In my head, I am saying, "well this is not the building for them, and everything happens for a reason!"

Long story short, we got out 20 minutes later, all of us were coated  in sweat and the celebs make up did not even drip off their faces!

The moral of the story- if an elevator seems to packed- wait for the next one!

ps- my customers did get to see the apartments and loved the building!

Have you seen these yet?
