Last night another couple and the Z team decided to throw down and head to the East Village for an early dinner.
We were told to meet our friends at Yakiniku West at 218 East 9th street between 2nd and 3rd at 7pm-
When we arrived, the place had a crazy wait and our friends literally just gave birth to twins and she wasn’t waiting for anything. I on the other hand I never like to wait for anything as I always have this in my head ,“Mr. Z is VIP”.
I quickly called my friends over at Apiary and asked if we could get in by 7:15ish….they were totally booked, but I must say, if you have not had a meal there, you have no idea how talented Scott Bryan is. Also, one of my favorite wine dudes on the planet, Brett Feore dances you through the wine list with ease!
Instead, we entered the basement of Sake Bar Decibel- yes I was in a suit and yes I have not tats and yes I stood out like a sore thumb- but who cares.
Dark and SEXY?
I wonder was letter this joint has from the NYC department of Health? HMMMM~~
Two things you need to eat- the dried octopus- think beef jerky in an octopus form and the Shu Mai dumplings….
The sake list is extensive and the beer list is fine.
There was a woman sitting right behind me and her purse was basically in my neck. I asked her to move it with a smile and she replied, “ Dude, you are missing the whole picture of what the East Village is all about!” I wanted to tell her that the 1st time I came to Decibel she was still going to The Little Red School House, but I refrained.
