Restaurant Garde Manger~ Montreal
One of our favorite meals last week in Montreal was at a restaurant called Garde Manger.
We were warned that if we did not make ressies well in advance, we would be out of luck.
Luckily, I pulled, the “Hi, I am Paul Zweben, and I am a partner at Calle Ocho and BLT Prime in NYC as well as BLT Steak DC…………………..Bam- we had a ressie for 9.21.10 for 2 people at 8PM.
I have to say that this was my second favorite meal experience in Montreal, and a good one.
The place has a very cool vibe about is, think Williamsburg’s South side. All of the bar seats were full when we got there, and apparently at most of the hot spots in Montreal, you are required to eat at the bar and not just drink…………HMMM- I don’t think that would ever work in NYC.
We waited for our table for a few minutes while sipping a few of the local beers know as Belle Gueule Beer- it was pretty tasting.
I loved the way they served the raw bar in wooden tool kits. It would never work in NYC, cause of the strict rules of the Health Department.
The service was clean and crisp and all of the staff had that funky style about them.
The best thing we had was the General Tso’s Shrimp- a take on the traditional General Tso’s chicken.
The place is tiny, so don’t expect to just walk in with that New York attitude and get seated right away!
Bon appétit !!!!
