Last night, on a rainy Friday, my wife and I needed a burger.
Seems that the whole world is opening burger joints, but of course, none on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
I knew about a new joint called 5 Napkin Burger, located on 9th avenue and 45th street.
It is the same owners as Nice Matin on the UWS.
We took a cab down and walked in at around 8:15. The place was packed.
We were told that it was a 20 minute wait, so we went to the bar.
The beer list is fantastic, with a huge variety.
I am not sure who designed the place, but whoever did it........gets it.
From the identical whiskey bottles on the top row of the bar display, to the meat hooks, to the meat scales and white tiles, the place looks amazing.
We waited longer than 20 minutes, but we were having so much fun together, it didn't matter.
Anyway, when we finally sat down at a very nice table, we were treated with great service.
All I wanted was a great burger- it came out coated in some type of cheese sauce and the bun felt like it had been soaking all day in the same sauce.
Needless to say, it was not stellar. The onion rings were good, the pickles were great and the pastrami wrapped pickle sounded better than it tasted.
I don't write reviews on this blog, just more of reports. I would surely go back, but they have to work on the soggy signature burger..........
