Usually after a crazy day of Open Houses on Sunday’s. Mrs. Z and I are famished and probably forgot to eat all day.
That was the case this past Sunday at 4:45pm I was going down for the count.
We opted for one of our favorite local favorites, Vai restaurant on 77th street between Broadway and Amsterdam.
Vincent, the proprietor worked for me in the Union Pacific days back when Rocco Dispirito and I were partners. His new book “Now Eat This” is fantastic!
Vinnie runs a great little joint that is always consistent with a great vibe.
Sunday was no different. We had a delicious Touraine Rose, Grilled Squid with fresh oregano, (the dish was off the hook!), Rigatoni with tomato sauce and sausage and a delicious fingerling potato gratin.
(Probably need to up my Lipitor to 20 Grams a day after the potatoes.)
Oh and the cold green beans with cheese and balsamic vinegar are yummy as well.
It is not an expensive restaurant and it is a wonderful addition to the Upper West Side!
