Last night we went to "Friends and Family" at John Fraser's new joint, "What Happens When!"
He has been getting a ton of press for the short-term lease he has signed and the fact that the building can be demolished within a year.
John is an Uber talented chef, who also owns Dovetail on the UWS of Manhattan!
103 West 77th st NY NY www.dovetailnyc.com
The place has a bare boned design, as he must race to pay back his investors before the building goes boom!
I will leave the decor up to Sam Sifton of the NY Times and all of the other pros.
The bread at the restaurant is unreal! Pizza dough garlic knot emmentaler cheese garlic infused olive oil bread, wow, I could have eaten a dozen pieces.
I had a few of the pine needle infused Alba Beers. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Our two appetizers were fantastic, both the oyster dish and potato skins were unique, skillfully prepared and surely did not look or feel like it was only the second say of being open.
I know what it is like on the second day of having your restaurant open, anything can go wrong, from food issues, service issues, lighting, music, anything!
Nothing here went wrong and John and his crew should be proud!
Our entrees kicked as well!
Desserts were solid and we will definitely be back!
Go have fun at "What Happens when!"
