What is passion?

Extreme, compelling emotion; intense emotional drive or excitement

Great anger; rage; fury

Enthusiasm or fondness: a passion for music

Strong love or affection

Many people lack this in their lives, whether it has to do with family, relationships or how they make their living.

I for one have no idea how someone could go to work and not have passion about what they do.

Every time a person says to me that they want to be a Chef or own a restaurant or work in the hospitality industry, I say the say thing. “Unless you are passionate about the business, food, people, handling pressure…..find another career that you can sink your teeth into!”

Yesterday I was at Inman’s Agent reboot to get a jump-start for 2011.

During the presentation Nicole Nicolay who owns and runs an amazing company with her Hubby, called My Tech Opinion told me that I had been nominated for the Peoples Choice awards for best blogger at Agent Reboot. I was so fired up that I was just on the short list for best bloggers and that people liked to read my blog that was about food and real estate. I mean really, does anyone really talk about anything else? Being a chef and owning some of the coolest restaurants in NYC since 1979 and now being a sales agent my passion for both has flowed passionately into our blog.

I was elated to hear that I had won the Best Blogger Award later on that day by my peers.

Later on in the day I went to a tweet up and saw Nicole and she was psyched that I had won. My response was sort of dismissive, but deep down inside, I wanted to run up and down the hallways of the Marriot Marquis and jump for joy!

It is all about passion. Whatever you do, do it well, work at it, care about it and be passionate about it!
