Last night, Mrs. Z and I went to Daniel Boulud’s flagship restaurant in NYC.
I have always been a huge fan of Daniel’s and he has just gotten better with age.
We went for a special Guest Chef dinner. The 3 Star Michelin Chef was Eric Frechon of the famed Le Bistrol hotel in Paris. Daniel and Eric created a one-of-a-kind fantastic menu. It included Cuvee Daniel Champagne and hors d'oeuvre reception. One of the stand outs were raw tuna lolly pops with whipped ginger cream! I ate about 30 of them.
The 5 course gourmet menu with prestige wine pairings was insane-The Oven baked Cod with watercress and Lemon Butter was sublime. And the Precieux Chocolat "Nanbo" from the Le Bistrol pastry chef was a work of art and it tasted amazing too! It contained liquid chocolate, a crisp tuile, and Gold Leaf Sorbet….
WOW…… We had an n incredible group of people at our table ---- A precious metal trader, a Sotheby’s Scarsdale Residential Broker, a father and son NY Apartment landlord team and a mom (who could not control her emotions every time a new dish arrived in front of her) and her aspiring artist daughter.
Rita Jammet the amazing restaurateur who owned La Caravelle was honored at the event. I am a huge fan of Rita’s and it turns out that her in laws owned The Hotel Bristol in Paris and her husband was actually born in one of the guest rooms at the hotel…………..
