The E-F-M-R trains at Northern Boulevard are 2 Blocks away (5 stops / 15 min on the train to Manhattan). The building has multiple entrances including a direct street entrance through 55-01 via the cellar level; the elevator in 55-03 was also recently renovated with new paneling.

The Boulevard Gardens complex was founded in 1935. It was designed by T.H. Engelhardt alongside landscape architect C.N. Lowrie for the Cord Meyer Development Corporation. The complex won an award for architectural merit from the Queens Chamber of Commerce in 1936. It currently features a residents library, private security services, a childrens playground, an indoor playroom, multiple laundry facilities (55-03 is serviced by laundry room in both neighboring buildings), and an onsite management office with a live-in super and assistant super. The complex offers both personal storage and bike storage to residents. Electricity is sub-metered and subsidized by the complex.
